Stainless steel, Bronze, Hastelloy C276

Porous Sintered Metal

Van Borselen supplies a complete range of porous sintered metal products. These have a very uniform porosity distribution and can be produced in the most diverse forms and materials; Stainless steel, Bronze, Hastelloy C276, Hastelloy X, Hastelloy C22, Inconel 600, Monel 400, Nickel, Titanium and more.

Van Borselen is one of the few suppliers that can also produce sintered porous stainless steel filters in small quantities to order.

Poreus gesinterde metalen Sparger
Porous sintered Spargers increase gas absorption by as much as 300% over traditional gas spargers. resulting in less gas consumption. Sparger are available as inline sparger, tank sparger, micro spager and as an assembly.
Poreus gesinterde metalen flame arrestor
Porous metal flame Arrestors are designed to meet specific flows and are available in many different materials and sizes.
Poreus gesinterde metalen frits.
Porous chromatography Frits are used in HPLC columns to hold the gasket in place and provide a uniform flow of sample through the column with a low hold-up volume. These frits can withstand high pressures and highly corrosive chemicals.
Poreus gesinterde platen, filterplaat gemaakt van gesinterd metaal
Porous Sintered metal sheets, available in various sizes, finenesses and materials.
Porous Sintered Flow Restrictor
Flow Restrictor made of sintered metal. The Flow Restrictor can be custom made to fit any hardware, The porous design allows laminar gas flow with integrated filtration in one step.

IN WHAT APPLICATIONS ARE SINTERED POROUS STAINLESS STEEL FILTERS USED?

In applications with persistently high temperatures and corrosive environments, any pressure-driven filtration process can be improved with sintered porous stainless steel filter technology at high operating costs. Suitable applications can be found in refineries, chemical and petrochemical processes, semiconductor processes and in pharmaceutical production, steam filtration, air filtration.

We supply:

  • Sintered spargers
  • Sintered filters
  • Sintered stainless steel filter disc
  • Sintered metal filter disc
  • Sintered filter tube
  • Sintered sheets
  • Sintered frits
  • etc.

Sintered porous metal is made by pressing and sintering metal powders into a solid structure with controlled porosity. The interconnected pores allow fluids or gases to pass while capturing particles, making it ideal for filtration, separation, and gas diffusion applications.

They are used for gas and liquid filtration, steam filtration, flow control, gas sparging, flame arresting, and fluidization. Common industries include chemical processing, petrochemicals, refineries, steel production, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals.

Filters can be produced in stainless steel, bronze, nickel, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy C276/C22/X, and titanium, depending on chemical compatibility, pressure, and temperature requirements.

  • Withstand high temperatures and pressures
  • Excellent chemical and corrosion resistance
  • Long service life and reusable through backwashing
  • Uniform pore size for consistent filtration quality
  • Rigid and self-supporting structure

Standard pore sizes range from 0.2 to 100 microns, with custom options available for specific flow and retention requirements.

Sintered metal filters can be manufactured as discs, tubes, cups, plates, cartridges, frits, spargers, and flow restrictors. Custom dimensions and connections can be produced in small or large quantities.

They can be cleaned by backflushing, ultrasonic cleaning, or chemical washing. Because the medium is rigid and non-deformable, sintered filters can be reused many times without loss of performance.

  • Sintered powder: isotropic structure, excellent particle retention and mechanical strength.
  • Sintered mesh: made of multiple woven layers for high flow and backwash capability.
  • Sintered fiber: high porosity, ideal for gas filtration and low pressure drop applications.

They perform best in high-temperature, high-pressure, and corrosive environments, where polymer or fabric filters would fail. Typical uses include catalyst recovery, gas diffusion, steam filtration, and process protection in harsh conditions.

Yes, filters can be tailored in shape, porosity, alloy, and size to match process conditions. Van Borselen Filters provides custom-engineered solutions even for low-volume requirements.
