BFTT-PES-4: Single-Use PES TFF Cassette

The BFTT-PES-4 is a single-use membrane cassette with a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane for tangential flow filtration (TFF). This cassette for single use offers a choice of cut-offs, membrane areas and screen configurations to match your filtration process.

Tangential flow filtration, also known as crossflow filtration, is used for concentration and diafiltration. During this process, the liquid flows along the membrane surface. Part of the liquid passes through the membrane as permeate, while retained components remain in the retentate.

Twelve Cut-Off Options from 1 to 1000 kDa

The BFTT-PES-4 is available with the following molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) values: 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 30, 50, 100, 300, 500 and 1000 kDa. Both 100S and 100L versions are available at 100 kDa.

The appropriate cut-off depends on the components you want to retain, the composition of your liquid and the required separation.

Five Effective Membrane Areas

The BFTT-PES-4 is available in five effective membrane areas:

  • 0.01 m² — 100 cm²
  • 0.02 m² — 200 cm²
  • 0.11 m²
  • 0.50 m²
  • 2.50 m²

The required membrane area depends on factors such as processing volume, liquid properties and target processing time.

Two Screen Configurations

The BFTT-PES-4 is available with two screen options:

  • A – Tight screen
  • C – Standard coarse screen

Both screen configurations are offered with an S – Standard body. Within this product range, all twelve cut-off options are available with both screens and all five membrane areas.

Concentration and Diafiltration

During concentration, liquid passes through the membrane, increasing the concentration of retained components. Diafiltration is used for buffer exchange or the removal of small components that can pass through the membrane.
