PES Disposable Vacuum Filter Units for Sterile Laboratory Filtration

PES disposable vacuum filter units, also known as bottle-top vacuum filters, are designed for efficient sterile filtration of laboratory solutions. These filtration systems are commonly used in research laboratories, biotechnology and pharmaceutical environments for the filtration of cell culture media, tissue culture media, buffers and other biological or aqueous solutions.

The filter unit consists of a sterile polystyrene bottle-top filter funnel with an integrated membrane, a receiver bottle, lid and HDPE adapter. When connected to a vacuum pump or aspirator, negative pressure pulls the liquid through the membrane while particles, microorganisms and contaminants are retained on the filter surface. This allows fast and reliable filtration of medium to large sample volumes.

The filtration membrane is made from polyethersulfone (PES), a highly reliable membrane material widely used in laboratory and biopharmaceutical applications. PES membranes offer high flow rates, excellent throughput and very low protein binding, which makes them particularly suitable for the filtration of sensitive biological solutions such as cell culture media. • 0.2 µm – commonly used for sterile filtration of culture media, buffers and reagents
• 0.45 µm – ideal for clarification of aqueous or slightly viscous solutions
