Description
Hydrophobic PP membrane discs (polypropylene) are designed for filtration processes where chemical resistance, high flow rates and strong dirt holding capacity are critical. Due to their naturally hydrophobic structure, these membranes are especially suitable for gas filtration and applications involving non-polar or aggressive media.
Polypropylene membranes offer broad chemical compatibility (pH 1–14), making them suitable for use in industries such as chemical processing, pharmaceuticals and laboratory environments. Compared to other membrane materials, PP discs combine high flow rates with excellent particle retention, resulting in longer service life and consistent filtration performance.
Available in pore sizes ranging from 0.22 µm to 20 µm, these membrane discs can be used for both fine filtration and prefiltration or clarification of liquids with higher viscosity or higher particle loads.
Typical applications include:
- Prefiltration and clarification of liquids
- Gas filtration
- Removal of aerosols
- Filtration of chemically aggressive solutions
Hydrophobic PP membrane discs are less suitable for applications requiring low protein binding or sterile filtration of aqueous solutions. In those cases, materials such as PES or PVDF are often a better fit.
At Van Borselen Filters, we supply PP membrane discs directly from stock and support you in selecting the right membrane for your process. This ensures not only technical reliability, but also fast availability when it matters.
