Filter Cartridge / Cartridge Filters

Van Borselen Filters offers an extensive range of cartridge filters, providing the right solution for almost every application. Our product portfolio includes, among others:

Depth Filter Cartridges

Depth filter cartridges are often used in applications with a wide variety of particles or when the contamination consists of deformable particles. These filters are made of a thick filter medium, often constructed from multiple layers. This design allows the filter to capture particles both on the surface and within the depth of the media.

Depth filters are available in a range from 0.5 µm to 200 µm and in various materials. They are ideal as prefilters to protect final filters or as water filtration cartridges. Depth filter cartridges are available in both meltblown and pleated versions. Van Borselen is happy to advise on the most suitable depth filter cartridges for your process.

Examples of depth filter cartridges include:

  • BorsoSpun meltblown filter cartridges

  • BorsoKlean depth filter cartridges

  • BorsoPleat-K pleated depth filter cartridges

  • BorsoSpun Polyester meltblown cartridges

Surface / Pleated Filter Cartridges

Pleated filter cartridges have a large filtration surface area, resulting in low pressure drop and higher flow rates compared to depth filters. They are available from 0.2 µm to 1000 µm and can be supplied with various end cap configurations, lengths, and O-ring materials. Pleated water filter cartridges are a common application.

Examples of pleated filter cartridges include:

  • BorsoPleat-P

  • BorsoPleat-M

  • BorsoPleat-HF

Membrane Filter Cartridges

Membrane filter cartridges feature a porous membrane and are often used to achieve microbial stability in liquids or gases. Contaminants are retained on the surface of the membrane. The pleated structure combined with the absolute-rated pore size makes membrane filters the ideal choice for applications with strict final product requirements.

Membranes can be made from Polyethersulfone (PES), PTFE, PVDF, Nylon 6.6, and more.

Examples include:

  • BorsoPES (PES membrane filter cartridges)

  • BorsoNylon

  • BorsoPTFE

  • BorsoPVDF

Coalescers

Van Borselen specializes in retrofit coalescer filter cartridges, which are direct replacements for your existing coalescer elements. Our coalescers maintain the high quality you expect, with the benefits of fast delivery and competitive pricing. They are fully interchangeable with existing installations—no modifications to filter housings are required.

We offer alternatives for brands such as Parker, 3M, Hydac, Dollinger, Filtration Group, Peco, Eaton, Donaldson Peerless, SPX, Southwest Filter, Pentair, GEA, Amazon, and more.

Coalescer cartridges are ideal for separating water from oil in liquid-liquid or gas-liquid separation applications.

String Wound Filter Cartridges

String wound filter cartridges provide an excellent, economical solution for particle removal in less critical applications. They are manufactured by winding yarn around a core, which is why they are also known as yarn filters. Filter media options include cotton, polypropylene, nylon, fiberglass, and Ryton®.

These cartridges can be produced with a stainless steel core, making them suitable for high-temperature applications.

Metal Filter Cartridges

Metal filter cartridges are ideal for high-temperature and high-pressure applications. They can be manufactured in various materials, either in cylindrical or pleated form. Porous metal filter cartridges are highly suitable for cake filtration or catalyst recovery systems and are available in lengths up to 40 inches.

Micron Rating

The filtration rating of cartridge filters is expressed in microns (µm). One micron is one-thousandth of a millimeter. For example, a micro filter cartridge rated at 1000 µm corresponds to 1 millimeter.

A filter cartridge is a cylindrical filter element used to remove unwanted particles from liquids or gases. It offers a large filtration surface area in a compact design and is available in a variety of materials and filtration ratings.

Filter cartridges are used for fine and absolute filtration in industries such as food and beverage, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and water treatment. They are suitable for filtering liquids with both low and high viscosity.

  • High dirt-holding capacity
  • Long service life and low maintenance costs
  • Available in absolute and nominal filtration ratings
  • Offered in various lengths and connection types
  • Suitable for hygienic and aseptic processes

Filter cartridges are available in a wide range of materials, including polypropylene, fiberglass, polyester, PTFE, PES, and stainless steel, among others. The choice of material depends on chemical compatibility and specific process requirements.

Thanks to our spacious 1,700 m² warehouse and large inventory, most filter cartridges can be delivered within 24 hours. Urgent orders can be dispatched from our warehouse within 30 minutes.

  • Food and beverage
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Chemical processing
  • Water treatment and utilities
  • Cosmetics and high-purity applications

There are different types of filter cartridges. Some cartridges can be cleaned or steamed and are therefore reusable. Others can be backflushed and reused. Stainless steel filter cartridges can be thermally cleaned, restoring them to a condition that is almost as good as new. On the other hand, there are also cartridges designed for single-use applications.
